Pastels

I haven't done pastels in a while so I decided I was going to do some decent sized figures studies. This is the first of a series of 4 drawings of Erin.

I made a book cover for "The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" and before it a little sample of how I wanted to execute it.

day and night paintings

We had to the same image twice, one set in the day, the other at night. It was re-assigned and so here are my two sets :] I worked with black and white photos that were pretty sweet that I found in Russel Lee's photography book. Unfortunately the scanner picked up all the texture from the board on the paintings with the woman /:

There's an gallery show on March 20th dedicated to the fun designs of KidRobot. We can submit anything from animated videos to apparel. I'm doing a series of three of just cute little scenes with my version of the bunny's they sell :]
This is the first of the batch!

SCI-FI

The 3rd year illustrators had to do a Sci-Fi related piece for a juried show that's supposed to go up in a planetarium... or at least that's what I think it's for? I space out in class a lot /:
This was procrastination to the MAX.
FYI-Mars attacks was one of the many alien movies that gave me nightmares as a kid. Those jerks freaked me out with their big ugly brains and little laser guns of death. I did my piece on them despite my grudge against these fictional menaces. There are still some touch-ups to make, but it was my second time starting this, and I got it done in a matter of 8 hours?

open assignment

Pratt gave us another 3-hour in-class illustration today, that just so happened to be an open assignment. I got some sweet old guys and an old school boom box. I'm going bright and candy colored since I seem to always have moody work.

trial

I've bought two different colored wood stains and I'm working on plywood. I'm still figuring out the best way to make these look the way I want them. So far I've used myself as a model, but when I get a process that looks sick, I'll make a series of them.

what i've been up to.

just worked on a portrait of my friend beev today, and last week i started a hand study/self portrait. most of it is still an under painting.
